CHURCH FAMILY

Henry & Anna Meppelink wish to “express our thanks to our church family for all of your prayers and kindnesses regarding our COVID-19.  Although we were extremely ill for a long time, it is now beyond contagion, and every day we are blessed with symptoms of healing.  By God’s grace, we did not have to be hospitalized.”

AT HOME MEMBERS

Carolyn (Carrie) Redder lives at Resthaven Care Center (740 College Avenue Rm.#17) in Holland.

Marlin Vis lives at Grace of Douglas in Douglas.

Members with COVID-19:  There are many folks in our church family and community who have fallen ill with COVID-19.  We pray for their recovery and restoration of health.

David & Emily Romero are missionaries we support in Honduras through Jubilee Centers International.  Please keep David & Emily and their 3 children in your prayers after the death of David’s mother.  We pray for the Lord’s presence and peace to comfort them.

Tim & Amy Schutt:  Please keep the Schutt family in your prayers as recent scans have shown that the brain tumor of their brother-in-law, Brad, has grown.  As he goes in for consultations and makes decisions about treatment options, we pray for healing, peace, and clarity, for Brad and his family.

Dee Worley and Family:  Please be in prayer for Cassidy (a young girl often cared for by Dee Worley).  Cassidy’s little sister, Clarity, was found unresponsive and has been on life support since November 21.  We pray for Cassidy’s and Clarity’s mom, Diamon, as she is positioned to make some difficult decisions regarding the continuing care for Clarity.  We pray for the Lords peace and strength in this time.

Council Member of Focus:

Deacon Matt VanderPloeg

FOCUS ON MISSIONS

Mike & Keli Anderson are employed by South America Mission in Brazil with the Ammi Training Center; teaching, discipling, and working alongside Curto believers as well as students from other language groups proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

COUNCIL NEWS

(December 8, 2020)

Dear Congregation:  The Elders of North Street have decided that for December 13 and December 20 North Street CRC would be worshiping via Live Stream only.  This would be a single worship service that will be presented in real time at 9:30 AM on those dates.  This means that even though we will not be in the sanctuary, those leading us in worship would be.  This service would also be available for viewing at a later time.

This decision was made after much discussion and prayer and followed a recommendation by the Executive Committee.  Among the items considered during the discussion were the following items:

•The continuance of the “pause” by the Michigan Department of Health.

•The numerous cases of COVID-19 among the members of North Street CRC.

The Executive Committee will be meeting on Monday, December 21, to discuss options for worship on Christmas Day, December 25 and on Sunday, December 27.

The Congregational Meeting that was scheduled for December 14 has also been postponed.  Several options for alternate ways to hold the meeting were discussed but we decided that none of the alternatives offered adequate opportunity for discussion or an appropriate way to vote anonymously.  A new date has not yet been set for this meeting but it is anticipated to be in January / February.  In the mean-time, and because the 2021 budget does not call for an increase, we respectfully ask that you continue your giving at the current level.

Please remember the Executive Committee and Elders in prayer as we seek to lead the Lord’s people at North Street.  It is no easy or light manner to forego in person worship but it is one that we feel is appropriate at this time.

‘May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us’ - Psalm 67:1

Family Life Center is looking for some people interested in helping us paint.  We are going to try to do a painting party between Christmas and New Year’s, but we could use painting anytime.  We have 6 bedrooms, a laundry room, 3 bathrooms, hallways, etc. that could use a fresh coat of paint!  If you are interested and willing to help out, please contact Scott Visser (616.772.9607).
