COUNCIL NEWS

Offering Schedule:

Feb. 14:        AM Community Action

                        House

                    PM     American Decency Association

Rev. Harlan VandenEinde will be leading our Evening Worship Service tonight.

Communion:  Next week Sunday, during our Morning Worship Service, we will celebrate the Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper.  We are called to examine ourselves before we partake (I Corinthians 11:27&28).  Do you really acknowledge the depth of your sins, look to the sinlessness of Christ and His sacrifice alone for your peace with God, and finally seek to love God and live a life of love toward your neighbors?  Use the half-sheet included with your bulletin this week to help you answer these questions.  The Elders welcome to the table all such members who have professed their faith in their Lord Jesus Christ publicly before the church.  In addition, if you will be visiting you are welcome to participate if you successfully answer the above questions and are a member in good standing of a Christian church, having publicly professed Jesus Christ as your Lord there.  The Supper is an encouragement for our faith, hope, and love, and a foretaste of our Lord’s return to feast with us in the kingdom come.

Preparing for The Lord's Supper

(2-7-2010)

Next Sunday our congregation will be celebrating The Lord's Supper.  There are three questions that are important to answer as we ask the question:

Am I ready to take the Lord's Supper in faith?

1.  Do I recognize the reality and depth of my sin?

2.  Have I confessed my sin and do I trust Jesus as the

only one who can save me from it?

3.  Am I eager to obey Jesus and let him be my Lord?

Below are some Scriptures for you to reflect on personally or as a family that may help you get ready to celebrate communion.  These verses have been called the “Romans Road” of Salvation.  They take a person through the steps required to know Salvation and live in it.  These will help you to partake of The Lord’s Supper for the assurance of your Salvation.  Read one passage each day this coming week.

Romans 3:23

Romans 6:23

Romans 5:8

Romans 10:9,13

Romans 5:1; 8:1,38-39

Romans 12:1-2

Questions to ask:

What strikes you about the passage?

What don't you understand about the passage?

     What is the main lesson?

What did you learn about God?

How will you apply this lesson to your life?
