From The Executive Committee: We have seen a rise in COVID-19 Virus activity in our Community lately. This has had a direct impact on some of our members. We are happy to report that no known exposures have happened in our church building. The Executive committee has decided to adjust our church activities to minimize potential exposures:
1. All church educational activities will be suspended until January 2021. This includes Men’s Bible Study, Dorcas, Sunday School, Cadets, GEMS, and Youth Group.
2. Sunday, November 22 we will resume services in the morning and evening.
3. Thanksgiving service on Thursday, November 26 will be held as planned
The congregation is asked to remember the Executive Committee and the Council in prayer as they seek to guide the congregation through this season.
From The Deacons: North Street has again been given a generous donation of over-the-counter medicine – including children’s items, dental items, pain relievers, and more. Items will be available at the kitchen serving window following the worship services. Adults may come and help yourself to a few items. If you have any questions, please contact a Deacon.
The Thanksgiving Day offering envelopes have been placed in your mailbox. There are additional envelopes at the Sign-Up Station. These envelopes can be placed in the offering basket on Sunday-November 22, or Thanksgiving Day. There are several groups/agencies to choose from. All loose and undesignated money received will go to the Outreach Fund. The deacons discourage you from writing in additional causes. If a group/agency is written in, that amount will be given to the Outreach Fund. Any envelopes received after Thanksgiving Day will go to the Outreach Fund.
A Congregational Meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 14, at 7:00 PM. The meeting is for approval of the proposed budget for 2021. Absentee ballots will be available from Allyn Arendsen, Council Clerk, or the Church Office, beginning, November 22.
Borculo Christian School wants to thank you for the wonderful support we received during our recent Pig Roast Pick-Up Dinner and Facebook Mini Auction. We were so blessed by your pig roast orders, your auction bids, and your generous donations, and were able to raise over $10,000.00 for BCS! Thank You!
The Bible League International has a volunteer opportunity for a Spanish/English translator to assist BLI with the translation of documents or other forms of communication between English and Spanish in order to engage more donors and partners in Bible League’s ministry in Latin America. Pastor Shaun & Amanda and family would like to “Thank the North Street family for the outpouring of love and generosity shown to us over the past few weeks, with the birth of Levi, and then with falling ill, and having to be in quarantine. ‘The meals, gifts, cards, calls, and texts, were an immense blessing to us. Thank you for showing us the love of Christ in tangible and meaningful ways!’”
Tyce & Kristen (Mulder) VanKoevering would like to say “How deeply grateful we are for all the gifts that the North Street Church family has given us. We also appreciate all the kind words and prayers towards us as we start our new lives together.”
Gladys Fernandez lives at Resthaven Maple Woods in Holland.
Marian Kuipers lives in her condo in Zeeland.
Piano/Music Students: Instead of our typical Christmas program prelude presentation, the Worship Committee would like to put together a video recording of students playing their Christmas songs. The recording would then be used for a prelude. This process will allow for proper distancing and sanitizing. Please email Sue Arendsen (email@example.com) or call (616.886.9918) if you are interested and for further details by November 23.
Thanksgiving Service: Normally, during our Thanksgiving Service, we pass the microphone and express what we are thankful for. In an effort to prevent the spread of infection, we will refrain from passing the microphone and ask that you share what you are thankful for with Pastor Shaun, and he will share them from the pulpit during our Thanksgiving Service. If you could please email your thanksgiving to Pastor Shaun at firstname.lastname@example.org that would be greatly appreciated.
Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Program for 2020 was a complete success! North Street ended up donating 101 boxes to the cause, surpassing our goal of 100 boxes! Thank you to everyone who supported this program by filling a box or by donating money.
The Church Nursery will no longer be staffed because of the rising COVID-19 numbers. It will be open for parents to use as a cry room if needed. Please sanitize any toys that have been used if you use the room.
North Street’s Annual CAP Auction is being rescheduled to a tentative Feb/March time frame. All items that have been donated are being stored. Please remember the CAP Fund in your Thanksgiving/year end giving as this is a big fund-raising loss for our families.
