FOCUS ON MISSIONS

Crossroads Prison Ministries equips the church to disciple people in prison with the Word of God.  Some of our church members are and have been involved with this ministry.  For more information, check the website www.cpministries.org.

Fikret Bocek is a Pastor we support in Turkey who has been hospitalized with a fever and COVID-19 symptoms.  As they await the results of his tests, we pray that they would come back negative and that he would be restored to health and strength.

Almira (Mike) Huizenga:  Please remember Almira in your prayers as her health continues to decline after being diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure.  She was placed on Hospice Care.  We pray for Almira and pray for the Lord’s comfort and peace to be with her and her family in this time.

Betty Kroll:  Please keep Betty in your prayers as she was recently diagnosed with skin cancer.  As she awaits the consultation with her oncologist, (which may take up to a month because of the current pandemic), we pray for peace of mind for Betty and her family, and for the healing hand of the Lord to mercifully restore her to health.

Ron & Nancy Oskam:  Please remember Nathan Oskam, nephew of Ron & Nancy, in your prayers.  He has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, underwent surgery, and is scheduled to begin chemotherapy soon.  We pray for his overall health as the chemo will weaken his immune system and make him more vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus.

Martin VanderMeulen:  Please remember Martin in your prayers as a fall at his home last week resulted in some broken vertebrate and being hospitalized.  Martin has since been discharged and moved to American House (Lakeshore Building, Apt. A-2, 11911 James Street) where he will reside in their assisted living facility.  We pray for Martin that he may make a full recovery from his injuries and that the Lord would bless him in this transition.

COUNCIL NEWS

Offering Schedule:

April 5: AM   North Street CAP

              PM   Mission India

Elders & Deacons Contacts:  The Elders and Deacons will be checking in on every family in our church each week not only to see how they are doing health wise, but also want to see if they need any assistance with picking up groceries or prescriptions, especially for those who are considered high-risk and immune compromised.  But we also want to check on folks to see how they are doing when it comes to potential benevolent issues.  We understand that many in this time are experiencing difficulties because of lay-offs and cut hours.  We want to ensure that we are doing all that we can to care for the church family in this time.  We also want to pray with you and for you, and so if you have any prayer concerns, please let us know.  Worship material, including on-line sermon and bulletin, will be available on our website each week.  If you would like a DVD and bulletin sent to you, please contact our church office (772.6971) and we will mail them to you every Monday.

The Church Council has decided, as of March 13, 2020, that our Church Family will:

Suspend worship services and educational ministries through April 5.

Suspend all at-home, hospital, pastoral visits and counseling.  Contacts will be done by phone.

Council will be reassessing our response daily in an effort to stay up to date on all the necessary steps we must take to ensure that we are doing all we can to care for our church family during this time.  Future communications will be sent out through the prayer line and will be found on our website.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your District Elder or Pastor Shaun.

The Congregation is encouraged to continue with financial support of North Street and the various ministries that we support.  Weekly budget envelopes and offerings can be mailed to the church at 20 E. Main Avenue, Zeeland.

Sunday Morning Worship Service and Bulletin will be found on our Church’s website (northstreetcrc.org) on Sunday morning (March 29).  Printed Bulletins and DVDs of this Service will be available at the ‘Welcome Center’ in the Narthex on Monday.

The Financial Review Committee has completed a review of the 2019 Financial Records of the Church and has found them to be in excellent order.  The 2019 Financial Statement is available at the Information Center.

The Deacons report that the total amount collected with the Rice Bag Project for Mission India was $727.39.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to this cause!

  Prayer:

“Lord Jesus Christ, as we study your Word this day, we ask that you would surprise us with your grace.  The truth is, we have much in common with the poor man that we are about to read of in our text.  Like him, may we come to you on bended knee, asking for the touch of your hand and for the Word of your grace.  We ask that you would break through to our hearts and make us clean.  We look to you now and ask that you would give us ears to hear what your Spirit says to your church through this portion of your Word.  We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
