Cheryl Kroll:  Please be in prayer for Cheryl as she met with her oncologist this past week and it was determined that she will need chemotherapy.  We give thanks that her doctor is understanding of her physical limitations and has recommended a treatment course that will be beneficial while being easy for Cheryl to handle.

Council Member of Focus:

Elder Vern Boersen

Cheryl Kroll would like to say “Thanks to everyone for your prayers and ask that you continue to pray.  I saw the oncologist and I do need chemo, but I am very thankful I have the doctor I have because she is taking my physical limitations into account and going with a treatment type that will be easy for me to handle as well as being beneficial.  My next appointment is March 17, where they will go over everything with me, including my treatment schedule.”

Henry & Anna Meppelink would like to say “Thank you and Kudos for every way you helped see us through Henry’s surgery and rehab.  Home Health is almost finished and we see the surgeon on Tuesday, March 10.  Praying and hoping for a really good progress report.  What a Church Family you are!”

GROW Groups will meet today and next week Sunday, March 15.  Dan Landstra, Director of Spiritual Life & Leadership at Unity Christian, will join us with the topic of ‘Teens and Screens:  How Much Is Too Much? – The social, emotional, and educational impact of digital technology in 2020.’  Students today are digital natives.  The daily use of technology, especially phones, continues to increase.  Current research shows teens spend, on average, more than seven hours each day looking at screens (not including time spent on homework).  The average age at which a student receives their first smartphone is ten.  Additionally, parents face increasing challenges keeping pace with the rapidly evolving world of social media to which students are exposed.  What are a school, parents, and a community to do?  Using reliable, recent, and relevant research, we will explore the impact technology – especially cell phones – has on young minds and lives.  Emphasis will be given to the developmental impact social media has on students.  These sessions are a must!

N.S. Seniors will be having our first breakfast of 2020 this week Thursday, March 12, at 8:30 AM at Vee’s Grill.  Join us that morning!

Men’s Fellowship Wild Game Dinner - the 15th Annual Wild Game Dinner will be held this week Friday, March 13, in ‘The Grove’.  Doors open at 6:00 PM with the meal beginning at 6:30 PM.  A representative from Michigan Outdoor Wish Maker, an organization that provides hunting experiences for disabled individuals and Veterans, will be our guest speaker.  Be sure to sign-up at ‘The Sign-up Station’ for planning purposes for the committee.

Ladies Bible Study will meet on March 22 for our final Bible Study (not March 15 – due to the GROW Group sessions on Teens & Screens).

Upcoming CAP Projects:  CAP will benefit from the Cadet Counselors/spouse dinner on Thursday, March 19 as well as the Elders Conference on Thursday, April 30.  Stop at the ‘Sign-up Station’ and sign-up to make a dessert for 12 and/or work at either/both of these events.  You will receive a reminder notice prior to the date.

Meals For Families:  Are you making a casserole/soups/chicken/roast/breads/etc. for your family?  Don’t forget to make extra for someone in our North Street family that could use a meal and encouragement.  Please put the food in a freezer container, date and label the contents including any cooking instructions, and put the container in the freezer in the church kitchen.  The meals/food will be distributed to individuals/couples/families as needed.  If you have any questions or if you would like to bring a meal on a specific day, please contact Linda Boerman.
