Lola DeRoo:  Please remember Lola in your prayers as she remains under Hospice care.  We pray for comfort and peace to be constant companions during this season – both for Lola and her family.

 

Huizenga Family:  Please remember the Huizenga family in your prayers as they continue in their grief after the death of Gen Huizenga.  We pray for the Lord’s comfort and peace in this time.

 

Shirley Nagelkirk:  Please pray for Shirley as she continues to experience symptoms related to her Parkinson’s Disease like diagnosis.  We pray for the Lord’s mercy as her dizziness worsens and her difficulty with speech continues.

 

Joyce Rigterink:  Please remember Joyce in your prayers as she had surgery to re-attach a detached retina this past Wednesday.  We are thankful that her surgery went well and pray that she will be able to make a full recovery with no side effects.

 

Jennie VanderWoude:  Please keep Jennie in your prayers as she was hospitalized this past week with a flair-up of her colitis brought about by a viral infection.  We are thankful that she is slowly on the mend and was able to return home.

 

Von Vis:  Please keep Von in your prayers as she had surgery to re-attach a detached retina this past Monday.  We are thankful that her surgery went well and pray that she would make a full recovery.

LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parkview Home in Zeeland has a resident that is in need of a one-on-one Community Living Support Person Wednesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, to provide assistance with activities (volunteering in the community/personal enrichment opportunities).  This is a paid position with no weekend or evening time required. Should you have an interest or would like further information, please contact Jenn at admin@parkviewafchome.org.

 

Zeeland Christian School Grandparents & Grandfriends Day is Friday, November 1 for Y5s-8th grade.  Please join us for Chapel (beginning at 9:10 AM), coffee, classroom visits, and lunch with the grandchildren.  Sack lunch is available for purchase.

 

Borculo Christian School Auction & Pig Roast is Saturday, November 2.  The Pig Roast runs from 4-6PM; The Silent Auction opens at 4:30 PM; The Live Auction begins at 5:30 PM.  Check out the up-to-date list of items for bid on the BCS website www.borculochrschool.org and click on the ‘Fundraisers’ tab then the ‘Pig Roast and Auction’ heading.  You don’t want to miss this wonderful night of great food and excellent bidding in support of Christian education.

 

Barnabas Ministries will host their 25th Annual Fall Celebration Banquet on Thursday, November 7 at 6:30 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church in Holland.  Barnabas has been serving high-risk youth and families in West Michigan for nearly a quarter of a century.  There is NO COST for dinner – donation will be accepted!  Make your reservation by calling (748.8435) or email to banquet@barnabasmin.org.

 

Borculo Christian School will be holding a Veteran’s Day Chapel on Friday, November 8 at 12:45 PM.  Pastor Mark Neymeiyer of Rusk CRC will be leading the chapel.  All veterans are invited to attend, thanking God for blessing us with men and women who have made significant sacrifices in their lives to allow us the freedom to worship God in a safe community.

 

Attention Ladies:  The ‘Fresh Grounded Faith’ conference coming to Zeeland on November 15 and 16 is SOLD OUT!  However – 9 additional tickets have been secured – SO IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ATTENDING – RESERVE A TICKET TODAY!  Cost is $40.00 and includes sessions Friday night, Saturday morning, and a luncheon on Saturday.  Contact Nakisha DeJong, Heather Mulder, Sue Lucas, or Amanda Furniss.  It is going to be an amazing event with the opportunity to hear Jennifer Rothschild, Karen Ambercrombie, and Laura Story live with 1,000 other local ladies!  This event is appropriate for women age 14 and up; invite your friends/mark your calendar to join us for a weekend that will awaken your spirit and warm your heart!  See a committee member if you have questions or are in need of financial assistance to pay for your ticket.

 

North Blendon Churches (RCA & CRC) are co-hosting a benefit concert for Hurricane Dorian relief featuring the music of ‘Down Home’.  The concert will begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, and will be held at North Blendon Reformed Church (7224 Taylor St., Hudsonville).  A free-will offering will be received.

The Worship Services are projected in ‘The Fireside Room’ and ‘The Grove’ for those unable to worship in the Sanctuary.

Song Packets are available at the entrances of the Sanctuary.  Please feel free to pick up a copy if you have difficulty seeing the projection screen.

Children’s Worship meets during the Evening Worship Service, for children ages 3 through Kindergarten.  Children’s Worship Dismissal takes place following the Offering/Offertory, exiting the Sanctuary through the front door.  Parents, please come to the Children’s Worship Room (Room #1) after the Service to pick up your children.

COUNCIL NEWS

The Worship Service this evening will be conducted by Mr. Rob Gruessing, Calvin Seminary graduate and candidate for call to ministry.  Pastor Shaun has the evening off due to Gen Huizenga’s funeral this past week.  We welcome Rob as he returns to North Street to lead us in the preaching of the Word in the name of our Lord and Savior.

 

Pastor Appreciation Month:  October is Pastor Appreciation Month and you are encouraged to express your appreciation to Pastor Shaun & Amanda.  Today, cake will be served after the Morning Worship Service in appreciation for their ministry and friendships here at North Street.

 

Classis Zeeland met on Thursday, October 3, at Allendale Second CRC.  Copies of ‘A Report to the Churches of Classis Zeeland’ are available at the Sign-up Station (adjacent to the elevator).

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

November is North Street’s month to supply a hot meal and snacks for ‘The Bridge’ Youth Ministry‘The Bridge’ serves 60 - 75 kids every Tuesday.  We are being asked to supply a hot/main entrée and snacks.  Food needs to be at ‘The Bridge’ by 1:00 PM on Tuesdays.  A sign-up sheet with food suggestions is at the ‘Sign-Up Station’ in the Narthex.

They could also use donations of disposable plates, bowls, cups, and spoons at anytime.

 

The Outreach Committee is once again collecting Christmas shoeboxes for boys and girls around the globe through the Samaritan’s Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’ Program.  Shoeboxes can be picked up in the Narthex.  The goal for North Street is 100 boxes!  If you would like to make a monetary donation to fill a box or to help with shipping costs, place donations in Jim Jr./Dana Staat’s church mailbox.  Filled Shoeboxes must be brought back to church by Sunday, November 17.  For gift suggestions and/or more information, please contact Dana Staat or visit the website www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.

 

Meals For Families:  Are you making a casserole/pot of soup/chicken/roast/etc. for your family?  Why not make a little extra for someone in our North Street family that could use encouragement.  Please put the food in a freezer container, date and label the contents including any cooking instructions, and put the container in the freezer in the church kitchen.  The meals/food will be distributed to individuals/couples/families as needed.  If you have any questions or if you would like to bring a meal on a specific day, please contact Linda Boerman.

 

Found Items:  There are a couple of coats, a blanket, and an umbrella that have been found and are waiting to be claimed.  Are they yours?  Items not claimed by November 8 will be donated.
