Ovi & Jessica Dumea work for Wycliffe Translators in Romania.  They are involved in the signing ministry to help the deaf better understand The Bible.




Alicia Beld:  We give thanks to the Lord that Alicia had a successful surgery on her foot this past Friday.  We now pray that her recovery goes well and that she is able to return to regular activities soon.


Sharon DuBois:  We are thankful that Sharon was able to receive her third treatment this past week.  We continue to pray that her side effects will be minimal and that these treatments will prove to be effective.


Chuck & Lynn Johnson:  Please be in prayer for Chuck as he and Lynn decided it was time for him to come under Hospice care.  We pray for the Lord’s comfort in this time.


Helaine Miedema:  We give thanks to the Lord that Helaine will begin her chemotherapy treatments this week Wednesday, September 8.  We pray that she may respond to these treatments and pray for strength as she feels awfully weak right now.


Trevor Miedema (10 year old son of Mitch & Sarah):  Please keep Trevor in your prayers as he went in for his annual scans to determine if his brain tumor has returned.  We pray that it has not, and that Trevor will continue to have an encouraging prognosis.


Crew Staat (7 year old son of Jim Jr. & Dana):  Please keep Crew in your prayers as he broke his collar bone while biking this past Thursday night.  We pray that he may soon have a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon and that he will not need to have surgery.


Kris VanKlompenberg (son of Lyle & Barb):  We continue to pray for Kris as he now recovers from knee surgery; praying that the Lord will now grant him a good recovery.


Vern & Shirley VanKlompenberg:  We join with the VanKlompenberg Family in giving thanks for the news they received regarding their son-in-law, Jim.  Recent scans have shown he is responding to his treatments as his liver is getting better.

North Street Seniors will have their monthly Breakfast at Hamilton Trestle Stop Restaurant this week Thursday, September 9, at 8:30 AM.  Sign up in the Narthex if you plan on coming.  Enjoy breakfast and a time of fellowship that morning!


Education Kick-Off:  To celebrate the New Education Season starting September 12, the Education Committee invites everyone to a kick-off lunch starting around 11:30 AM on September 12, in ‘The Grove’.  No sign-up necessary – Just come hungry!


Adult Choir:  Do you love to make a joyful noise to the Lord?  Adult Choir will begin again on Sunday, September 26.  We would love to have you join us in singing praises to the Lord!  We rehearse Sunday afternoons at 4:30 PM and participate in worship about five times a year.  For more information, please see/contact Danielle Hilbelink ( or 616.403.3062).  ‘It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High’ (Psalm 92:1).

Gladys Fernandez:  We grieve the death of Gladys, who went to be with the Lord this past Thursday, September 2.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 7, at Yntema Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 8, at Yntema Funeral Home.  We remember her family in our prayers at this time.


Pep & Shirley Nagelkirk:  Please be in prayer for the Nagelkirk family as Shirley’s younger brother, Howard Albers, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, at the age of 87.  We pray for the Lord’s comfort to be with this family in this time.


Sydney Leegwater (daughter of Brent & Val) is a Junior at Calvin University.  She is pursuing a Major in Nursing with a minor in Psychology.  She is currently taking classes in Mental Health and Community Clinical.  This includes practicing, theoretical classes, and labs.  During the summer, Sydney worked for the City of Zeeland and she is a caregiver year-round.  She also has a small Photography business.  This past summer, she played in a Co-Ed and Women’s league slow pitch softball team.  Sydney’s email address is  Sydney celebrated her 20th Birthday on August 24!  Happy Birthday Sydney!  We continue to pray that God will bless you as you continue your College Education.


Lyndsey Leegwater (daughter of Brent & Val) is a Junior at Calvin University.  She is pursuing a Major in Nursing with a minor in Psychology.  She is currently taking her Mental Health and Community based clinical this year as well as her other Nursing courses that go along with these topics.  They are two strategy and theory courses and one lab.  Lyndsey is working full-time for the city of Zeeland during the summers as well as part-time caregiver for a woman in a wheelchair, and a grader for a Data class at Calvin.  Lyndsey played slow pitch softball this past summer and also got the opportunity to go back to Alaska at the Eagle Crest camp!  Her email address is  Lyndsey celebrated her 20th Birthday on August 24!  Happy Birthday Lyndsey!  We continue to pray that God will bless you as you continue your College Education.
